2006 OVMA Awards

The Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association announced their 2006 Awards recipients at the 91st Annual Convention in Tulsa. Roger Johnson, DVM, Oklahoma City, OK was named the 2006 Companion Animal Practitioner of the Year.

Dr. Johnson is a 1977 graduate of Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation he established his practice in Oklahoma City. He is currently a member of the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association and serves on the OVMA Executive Board as the Northwest Oklahoma City Director, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the OSU Alumni Association and OSU Posse President. He is also an active with the Boy Scouts of America and supportive member of the Westminister Presbyterian church.

Dr. Johnson is receiving his award form Dr. Richard Prather, 2005 Award recipient.

 

Jeff Hammond, DVM, Marlow, OK was named the 2006 Food Animal Practitioner of the Year.

Dr. Hammond is a 1999 graduate of Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He established his practice in Marlow, OK in 2003.. He is currently a member of the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association and he is a volunteer to local FFA Chapters. Dr. Hammond is also an active member of the Chisholm Trails Church of Christ.

Dr. Hammond is receiving his award from Dr. Richard Prather, a 2005 Award recipient.

 

Carl (Chell) Propp, DVM, Pryor, OK was named the 2006 Equine Practitioner of the Year.

Dr. Propp is a 1979 graduate of Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation he joined a mixed animal practice in Northeastern Oklahoma., the Pryor Veterinary Hospital. He is the primary equine practitioner in the practice. He is currently a member of the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Equine Practitioners, and the Northeastern Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association. He is also an active and supportive member of 4-H and FFA, speaker for career days at local schools, active in the OSU preceptorship program, and the Mayes County Cattlemen’s Association. Dr. Propp has received the FFA American Farmer Award, Breeder Award for Champion Performance steer and the Oklahoma Centennial Farm Recognition.

Dr. Propp is receiving his award from Dr. Richard Prather, a 2005 award recipient.

 

Greg Emmert, DVM, Norman, OK was named the 2006 Young Veterinarian of the Year.

Dr. Emmert is a 1998 graduate of Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He owns a solo practice in Norma. He is currently a member of the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Central Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Animal Hospital Association. He is also a active and supportive member of the Norman Chamber of Commerce and his local church, where he serves as a board members and director of the Men’s Ministry.

Dr. Emmert is receiving his award form Dr. Richard Prather, a 2005 recipient.

 

William Edwards, DVM, Stillwater, OK was given the 2006 Distinguished Service Award.
